TI Safe Computing: WiFi Can Be Used for Through Walls Surveillance

Personally, I recommend the use of ethernet cables for network connections over the use of WiFi as a best practice for Targeted Individuals.  If you’re in a situation where it’s not convenient or affordable to do so currently, it is an upgrade you may wish to consider in the future.  There are even ethernet adapters for phones and tablets so you can connect your other devices to an ethernet connection.

One reason to avoid WiFi is security – publicly disclosed WiFi vulnerabilities have been found and exploited in the past.

Another strong case to avoid WiFi is found in the article below.  WiFi can be used for through walls surveillance and tracking of your location in real time.  It could also be used to track the position of a group of people in a café or many other areas due to the fact that WiFi is so heavily used in so many locations.

If you are in an apartment with many nearby neighbors or while you are in a public location you are probably being bombarded with WiFi signal.  If you have your own house or other area you have more control over, you may wish to turn off WiFi, both for security and privacy.
